Frequently asked questions

Are my photos sent to a server?

No. Every painting is made on your iPhone. Hwagong never sends your photos anywhere and collects no data. See the Privacy Policy for details.

I can’t save to my photo library.

Go to Settings > Apps > Hwagong > Photos (on iOS 17, Settings > Hwagong > Photos) and choose “Add Photos Only” or “Full Access”. Hwagong only uses permission to add paintings.

The camera doesn’t open.

Go to Settings > Apps > Hwagong (on iOS 17, Settings > Hwagong) and turn on Camera.

How large are saved paintings?

Hwagong repaints your photo at its original size, up to 4096 px on the long side. Paintings saved to your photo library keep the date and place the photo was taken. Paintings you send with Share do not include the place.

Can I turn off the seal or change its text?

Every painting currently carries the “Hwagong” seal. There is no option to change it yet.
